Contextual Research

I have visited many galleries over the past few years. Each time I visit I find it so interesting as to how people can push boundaries with the work that they create. When I visited the Royal Academy in London, I found the variety of works so interesting, it was their summer exhibition.

I remember there being massive drapes coming down from the ceiling as I walked in. There was also a lamp made from a swimming costume, I find it inspiring how people push the boundaries, and I intend in doing that myself. I feel that I have always stayed contained with the way that I work, and I want to experiment with different ways of working.

There was one painting that I still remember even without looking for the painting online. The picture seemed so nostalgic and like we were in this memory with the person. The way in which this person has painted it makes it look so lifelike, like we were there in the memory with them.

Also, I have taken great inspiration from the new artist Lucas Console Verma. I met him at a university open day in Winchester, he was so passionate about his work, I admired how large he painted and the amount of detail he has in his work, it was very impressionistic. I like the impressionist style as it leaves much more room for interpretation.
